Activities
Main activities:
Guided walks to the nature reserves of the Eider estuary and the National Park
Nature discovery for schools: special tours for groups of kids and teens, didactically and methodically designed according to age and school curriculum and to the UNESCO targets of an education for a sustainable development
"Young explorers": in cooperation with the National Park Office and the conservancy organisation Schutzstation Wattenmeer, the NABU is in charge of three regional kids clubs
Additional activities:
The Visitor Centre of the conservancy organisation NABU is nestled up against the old Eider dike. In 1973, the Eider estuary was closed with a concrete barrier and a lock, creating the nature reserve Katinger Watt with its wetlands and forest
Exhibition about flora and fauna of the Eider estuary, history of the river Eider and the Wadden Sea National Park
Garden with "touch path" and "scent patches"
The visitor centre is certified as National Park Partner
Opening hours: 20th of March to 7th of November 2010 from 10 am to 6 pm daily
