The Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation Mourns the Passing of Jiyoung Jang
The Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Jiyoung Jang of the NGO Eco Horizon, a valued colleague and long-standing partner in the cooperation between the Wadden Sea and the Korean Getbol World Heritage Sites. Jiyoung firmly believed that international cooperation should be based on mutual learning and played a key role in filling the Memorandum of Understanding between the Wadden Sea countries and in Korea with life. Through her dedication and commitment, the cooperation became a vibrant exchange of knowledge and experience, particularly in the fields of environmental education and sustainable tourism. Beyond her professional contributions, Jiyoung Jang maintained close ties with the Wadden Sea community over many years. She built lasting friendships with colleagues across the region and was a familiar and highly respected participant in numerous meetings, workshops, and exchange activities.
Her passing is a great loss for the Wadden Sea-Korea partnership and for the many colleagues and friends who had the privilege of working with her. The Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation expresses its sincere condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. We will remember her with gratitude for her significant contribution to the cooperation between the Wadden Sea and Korea and for her commitment to the conservation and sustainable use of tidal wetland ecosystems.
