The Freemantle Highway has now been successfully towed to Eemshaven harbour. While the threat of an ecological catastrophe is not completely resolved, it has been reduced considerably.

The tour was conducted in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between South Korea and the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation, that was signed in 2009 and updated in May 2023.

To address current developments and prospects of German border regions and their positions both among themselves and in Europe, on 20-21 April 2023, scientists, area managers, and representatives of politics and other sectors participated in a “Border Region Academy” in Berlin.

The 19 site managers came from four nature reserves and national parks that make up the World Heritage Site.
