Conservation of the Wadden Sea

The inscription of the Wadden Sea on the World Heritage List recognises the outstanding global importance of the area’s biodiversity and natural processes and the need for its long-term protection and management. In the framework of the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation (TWSC), Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands have created a high level of harmonised protection as well as management and policy, ensuring the integrity of the Wadden Sea World Heritage now and in the future. The goals of the TWSC are manifested in the Wadden Sea Plan, which serves as a common policy and management plan.
