Building with Nature: successful conference on climate change adaptation in the North Sea region

The conference 'Climate change adaptation in the North Sea region'  was successfully held on 8 March 2018 in Schoorl, Netherlands. Celebrating that the EU Interreg VB North Sea region projects Building with Nature and FAIR had reached their halfway points, the symposium reflected on results achieved and looked to the future of the projects ahead.

Various sessions about flood protection in the North Sea region and beyond served as knowledge exchange platforms. Excursions to the Petten Sea Defence gave guests the opportunity to view examples of nature-based solutions and adaptive asset management.

As project partner in the Building with Nature project, CWSS took part in the event and presented the trilateral Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (CCAS) for the Wadden Sea. The CCAS consists of two strategic and five guiding principles which address and give guidance for climate change adaptation. They are hence of high relevance for Building with Nature study sites for flood protection. Recently, the principles were positively evaluated by the Wadden Sea Board's Task Group Climate.
