An international survey of migratory waterbirds is taking place this month along the East Atlantic Flyway, one of the world’s most important migration corridors.

A new comprehensive report has been published assessing capacity for waterbird monitoring along the African part of the East Atlantic Flyway and proposing a framework for strengthening and sustaining this capacity for the future. 

CWSS participated in the 9th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement.

The event aimed to support long-term scientific capacity along the flyway and explore how academic collaboration could be strengthened.

From 28 to 30 October 2025, more than 200 scientists from Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands gathered in Groningen for the 16th International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium.
