Between 5 and 9 October, over 30 site managers from 23 World Heritage marine Sites met at the fifth edition of the UNESCO World Heritage Marine Managers Conference in Esbjerg, Denmark.

The Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS), representing the Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation, actively participated in the event.

Themed "Managing World Heritage for the Next 50 Years", the event aimed to empower and create new opportunities for site managers by sharing their personal knowledge and expanding their networks and experiences at an international level.

The Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation of Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands supported by the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat is preparing a joint report to address the World Heritage Committee’s requests and to respond to the raised concerns.

The Wadden Sea Flyway Initiative and its partners invited representatives from 15 flyway countries to a workshop in Dakar, Senegal, in July 2023. The aim was to discuss the key threats and possible solutions for migratory waterbird conservation along the East Atlantic Flyway.

The Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS) announced the renewal of the partnership with the Swiss watch manufacturer Oris at this year’s annual event themed “Change for the better” that took place on the Danish Wadden Sea island of Fanø on the 11 to 14 August.
